KLM (Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij) has always had an eye-catching two tone blue livery. But its current variation is, well, a little boring I think. Here's a freshened up version applied to the 787-9. I hope they like it well enough to pay me money to use it on their entire fleet!

American is being cagey about their much rumored 787-9 order. Given the classic status of their livery (virtually unchanged since 1968), it will be interesting to see how (or whether) Boeing will come up with a new coating that somehow replicates the shiny natural aluminum finish that is so characteristic of American Airlines. I've given this 787-9 a metallic silver-grey finish similar to that used by NWA on their 2003-era scheme. Not bad, but not as pretty as polished aluminum.

I find it quite humorous that Aeroflot still uses the Soviet-era winged hammer & sickle as its trademark almost 20 years after the USSR ceased to exist. Be that as it may, it's undeniable that Aeroflot's current color scheme is absolutely gorgeous. Like the American aircraft shown above, Aeroflot's uses a metallic silver-grey. Not sure if Aeroflot will ever take delivery of a 787, but if they do they might look like this...

Welcome to 787s Galore!

I enjoy illustrating aircraft for fun and relaxation. The 787 being such a handsome piece of hardware, I couldn't resist putting together my ideas of what some real, and some not so real airline liveries might look like wrapped around the sexy, curvaceous lines of Boeing's latest masterpiece. So here they are in no particular order. Enjoy! And let me know what you think.

Here's an idea for an updating of Air Canada's current (absolutely hideous) metallic mint blue/green scheme. Bold colors - the green reminiscent of Canada's forests, the white the snows of her Arctic north, and the red of her emblematic maple leaf flag.

British Caledonian sadly ceased to exist some years ago. But if they hadn't, and if they'd survived to order the 787, this might be a nice modern version of their blue & yellow livery with the Scottish rampant lion on the tail.
